Hi,
The bottom of the windows on our potting shed just fell off, it's totally rotten, I've just propped it for now with some offcuts. I'm just looking at options to fix, can't really afford to get it rebuild professionally. The upright wood is starting to rot at the bottom too.

First idea is to prop the roof and replace the window section with upvc to avoid rot in future. Can anyone suggest the kind of parts of need for this? A quick search and I find the windows but is there some kind of uPVC framing to hold them together?

Otherwise I could try rebuilding with wood and original glass. I'm thinking this would be cheaper but take ages...I'm reasonably handy but no carpenter..

Any suggestions welcome, and if anyone knows ballpark figures if I did all the work on each option, that would be good. thanks!

I'd go upvc but that's just my opinion and personal preference. I can't comment on the best way to prop up the existing cavity, I would assume something like acrow props with lintel supports might do the job but others on here much better placed to advise.

As for the windows, I think the only other main parts you'd need for upvc are cills and 90 degree corner posts for each exposed corner, something like this:

Buy UPVC reinforced corner square 90 posts (modernupvcwindows.co.uk)

Something else to consider is, although you're trying to do this on a budget, by the time you buy all the materials, you might find the total cost to supply & fit by a reputable small local company isn't a lot more, and it would save you the hassle, unless you'd rather diy it regardless of the £££ :)

I'd use accroprops to hold it up. ASs has been said culls and corner posts ( make sure they are filled with reinforcing and bay pole Jacks or that tiled Roof is coming down!). I'd also suggest having reinforced joiner in the centre of that big frame of using pvc... You really need to take into account the weight of the that roof so be very aware of that
