Hi I would like to fit 2 runs of around 3m of led light strip down either side of my stairs and as I am currently fitting a new door and frame at the top of the stairs I thought I would be as well to drop 2 supplies down for them. So question is what size of cable to drop approximately 3-4m each in length and could I take a feed from the lighting circuit ?
Thanks

The led strips that I am thinking about need a 12dc supply, in which case you would need a suitable power supply connected in parallel with the current light fitting, which I presume is what you are asking, on the staircase & will be a 2way circuit as shown in this wiki diagram https://www.diynot.com/wiki/Electrics:Two-way-lighting . If you mean connecting to a different switch but connected to a supply from the lighting circuit then look in the wiki for 1 way lighting. As for cable size you would need to post the loading of the proposed led strips.

Put a 13A socket under the stairs and plug the wall warts in there.
