Evening guys could do with some advice please. We have just replaced our Shark cordless Hoover with a Levolt one. The charger for the Shark is routed to the rear of a cabinet and is a pain to replace. Added to which our new puppy has managed to “nick” the cable of the new charger with his sharp teeth. So the question is could I use the old charger with the new battery? Battery has 25.9V written on it.

Old charger output is 28.8V 0.8A 23.04W
New charger is 30V 0.5A 15W

Any advice greatly appreciated guys.

You could try it as the output of the new charger is significantly less, so its charging time is longer. I would be tempted to repair the nicked cable,

A quick look around shows they are both DC PSU.
As above, check the polarities are the same from the symbol on the supply...

If you are unsure, post a pic of the Levolt charger. I have a Shark here - Edit: shark is centre positive.

And, have you checked the jack is the same size and fits nicely?

, so its charging time is longer
Interestingly (or not! :) ), both the supplies appear to be 'dumb' switch mode PSU.
The charger circuitry is built into the batteries, so it is likely that the battery may charge at the same rate, even though there is more power available.
It also means the actual PSU specification is probably less crucial.

Many thanks guys, great inputs. I’ve repaired the “nicked” cable on the OEMs charger. Bearing in mind it is constantly connected I’d rather be on the safe side.
