My Powermax 185 has sort of packed up. The timer/programmer doesn't seem to work. I can manually switch the hot water on to continuous and everything is fine. But I can't get the heating on through the programmer.
The red lights on the programmer seem dimmer than usual and the LCD is very dim. Its almost as if its running off a very weak battery.

Digging around on this site it seems that it's likely to be a replacement programmer (£100+ for a P458). Before I fork out, I was wondering, could it be anything else.

The boiler is about 5 years old and was working fine.

Thanks, Baxpoti. It's much appreciated. I've just ordered a new programmer.

From the looks of it, it should be easy to swap out. There appear to be just some push connectors.

It's actually a p.i.t.a, the access to the clock is rubbish....a bit like the clock itself. Sure you'll manage though.

Just to let you know, the programmer turned up and I took out the old one and everything works fine now.

An easy fix. I took the panel out, numbered all the connectors and the board. 6 screws later the new one was in place.

Thanks for all your help.

I speak for a lot of us I'm sure - if it weren't for you guys we'd all be in the dark over simple matters.
