Hi

I have the above boiler and it has started making a whistling sound and a banging noise when the burner ignites, the whistling sound seems to occur a few minutes after the burner has ignited and the temperature is rising. I have seen that it could be a term known as kettling, or a gas valve problem, any help would be greatly appreciated and how do you solve kettling?

Many Thanks
Keith

i would recomend getting it serviced by baxi heatteam as there are seals on these boilers that need to be checked

Very true Mr Bongo,
We look after an estate where every property has a Powermax, the burner head gasket MUST be replaced if the burner head is removed, no matter the condition of the old one.
As for the banging noise, We have found that one or two suffer from banging if there is any blockage to the feed from the header tank.
connect the main to the vent connection and back feed it for a few moments tends to shift it on and break it up.
The whining is either a damaged burner head or badly set gas valve, these valves can be a bit tricky to set up properly, a digital manometer with a tee on the hose is the only way to do it right.
