Hi

I am in the middle of renovating my bathroom. One of the walls we are painting and I want some advice on how best to prepare a section of the plasterboard wall before painting it.

Unfortunately whoever installed the basin used silicone or mastik to attach it to the wall resulting in me having to smash it up to remove it. The paper surface of the plasterboard has come away with the sink although none of the gypsum is visible.

How best to prepare this or can I just paint directly over it?

The replacement sink is a different shape so i can not rely on it entirely covering this patch of wall so I would like to prepare and paint the wall before installing the new sink.

Cheers!
