Going to be fitting one of these on a shower tomorrow, just a quick question there is 4 holes oviously 2 in and 2 out. What I want to know is does in matter what way round you have the valve,, as there is two arrows on the valve. Do I just connect a hot in to arrow and cold in to arrow then hot out and cold out ?

Yes, it'll do its best to bring the higher pressure water down to the lower pressure. Only within a range though, don't expect it to balance mains with a gravity feed 2m above.

thanks so am I right in saying a hot feed goes in arrow and cold in arrow then cold out and hot out ?

The arrow is there for a purpose. It shows the direction of flow.
Looking at your picture, water needs to go in the right side conns and out at the end where the arrow is.
