I constantly have to re-pressurise my central heating system. My boiler is a Vokera Excell 80 SP.The system was fitted about 6 years ago and the pipes are grey plastic [non-barrier]to the radiatirs.I have been told that these pipes cause excessive hydrogen gassing hence the loss of pressure.Does anyone know if this is true and if it is are there any products that can be added to help the problem? Thanks

You could try corrosion inhibitor, that would slow or stop the hydrogen production. The hydrogen comes from from steel corrosion. I would think this is not causing the problem though.

Thanks for the reply. To do this I assume I would first drain the the system, clean it,then put in the inhibitor.Could you tell me the best method to insert the inhibitor into a sealed system?

The problem is more likely to be the expansion vessel, search the forum for this and filling loop for more info. I don't understand the plastic pipe problem, or there would be hundreds of thousands of people with similar problems.

You can buy a cartridge of inhibitor which is injected into a radiator.
