Find the valve on the filling loop and open it carefully, watching the gauge until it gets to around 1.5 bar, then closing carefully.
If your gauge reads zero then either it's faulty or you have a major leak, so expect more trouble to follow...

unfortunately softus this is probably a true statement as boilers don't like running dry.
This is a closed system, so water cannot escape unless there's a leak.kevindgas said:
However, I may have over-dramatised the situation with my use of the word "major" - even a minor leak will result in zero pressure, given enough time.
