Hi:)

me again sorry!

whilst renovating our dormer bedrooms i've found this previous wire mesh in the wall, which i'm assuming is some kind of repair?

when we moved in there was a piece of plasterboard stuck to the wall where the old sealant is. i pulled the board off and noticed that when tapping a few areas of the plaster sounded blown. cut a long story short i noticed most of the area seemed to follow where a white plastic conduit ran underneath, so i ripped this out which then exposed the side of this metal mesh.

i've now removed the rest of the blown plaster and trimmed back the mesh as shown below. i can't see anything obvious on the wall, will i be ok just reinstalling some new mesh in the area shown?

any advice welcome, many thanks for your time

Short answer yes.
Long answer, what's behind that wall? Was there a door there before?
There is a crack down the mortar line in the block work this is probably why they use eml and being thermalite blocks they don't render easily.
It does look a bit bodged the the perps all lining up.
Looks like it's a loft has the chimney been removed?

Ah thinking about it there is a concrete duct which I assume runs within the wall.

one end was connected to a vent on the roof ridge line above that wall. The other is 3 floors below in a cellar room. I'm assuming at some point they had an old boiler or something down there.

Precious owners had already upgraded to a combi which we've now upgraded again.

Not something I've seen before myself, will grab a pic tomorrow

Many thanks for the reply
