Just a question to put my mind at rest:-

I´ve been out of the UK for about 9 years now just wondering what estimates are now the norm for say a two bed bungalow to be rewired

2000 , 3000, 6000 pounds i just need an average

The term "Average" is perhaps the most dangerous word ever used.

In answer to your question "About the same as a secondhand car"

It must be because it Christmas

We used to use as an average pricing system 30 pounds per point with the exception of the mains board, and earthing arrangement

for example 2 bed house

12, double socket outlets 12*30 = 360 pounds
8, 1 way switch including single lighting points 8*30 pounds = 240 pounds
4, 2 way switching single lighting points 4*30+30 = 240 pounds

and so on does this seem about the norm now ??? as i´m sure in 9 years or so prices have gone up...

Last 2 bedroom mid terrace house I priced for was not lived in and the price did not include making good plasterwork etc. All wiring and accesories are flush mounted.

Supply and installation of:

1no. Temporary builders supply
1no. 5x5 split load consumer unit
16no. Twin sockets
9no. Light points
1no. Boiler point
1no. Cooker hood point
1no. Washing machine point
1no. Oven supply
1no. Mains smoke alarm linked to 1no. Mains heat alarm
1no. 4” timer fan in bathroom

Main earth bonding to gas and water supplies, and local supplementary bonding to bathroom

Alarm system to comprise of 1no. control panel located in cellar, 1no. keypad located in lounge, 1no. PIR detector, 1no. door contact and 1no. external bell box

Test installation work, supply certificate and notify LABC of works.

Well thank you for your input ( your prices sound very reasonable )
is this to say Leeds / Bradford is cheaper than most areas ????

Could you tell me how much a roll of 2.5mm twin and earth cost these days

and how much does a roll of 2.5mm singles cost :D

100m 2.5mm² t&e is around the £40 mark for trade, depending on where you go, but the prices of cable are rocketing up at the moment.

Yes they have, prices here have doubled in 2 years for trade prices

Do you think copper will be next years GOLD

That would be about the same as our area, I would imagine most of the North of England is similar, but from what I have been led to believe you would have to at least double it in the South of England. Having said that you will always get some chancer who will estimate unrealistic prices up here as well.

Is there anybody else that can provide me with some prices ???

I have removed the actual price from my earlier quote as it can be incredibly misleading and was for the purpose of a comparison only.

My e-mail is in my profile. I may tell you what I put

Yeah I reckon mine would be about £**** as well if I was in contracting

Mind you I'm in the shandy drinking south(ish)

I was expecting it to be around the £**** as well

I´d only come on here to help with the Electrics Outside of the UK well for Spanish threads anyway.
