Gas/ventilation issue, I'm pretty much certain I know what's up with it but I can't give that info out on the open forum as it's against the rules. Get a qualified engineer in, running the boiler with the cover off is not advisable, don't do it

Get round what? I've told you what you need to do - get a Gas Safe Registered engineer in to look at it

Surely its now totally clear what you need to do?

You call a gas registered engineer to come and sort out your boiler for you!

You have already exceeded what a DIYer can safely do.

Neil, as the others have said, as a DIYer, you're strongly advised NOT to remove the combustion chamber cover, let alone attempt to run the boiler without it in place.

It's not lighting for a reason, probably because the boiler's electronics are being told that something's not right (i.e. is potentially dangerous) by the various sensing devices.

Definitely time for an RGI to take a look. ;)
