I am trying to lift some old cork floor tiles in my bathroom but it is difficult. They are stuck down with adhesive on to vinyl tiles underneath. The Vinyl tiles are stuck to the concrete floor. The whole lot is very hard to shift using a scraper. I don't care whether I remove just the cork tiles or both layers. Is there a solvent that will soften the adhesive(s) or a tool or technique that would make the job easier please?

Elbow grease is my only answer to this, plus a good stiff scraper, hammer and eye protection.

I'd aim to remove both layers at once to save time.

If there that well stuck down could you work over them with what ever floor covering your planning? Would save the aches and pains removing it all, and it must only be 5mm or so.

Gobs :)
