I have a 2006 honda izzy and have big trouble starting it , but if i put easy start in the carburetor intake it starts first time, and runs fine,
I have put a new plug in which was a bit black and cleaned the carburetor, I am at a loss what to do next.
Any ideas please

Does this one have an automatic choke? I doubt it, and once it’s running, is it fine?
I suspect that the throttle cable needs adjustment to give it full choke, and it will be a right swine to start otherwise.
The throttle cable is clamped to the engine, and adjustment only needs a screwdriver. If you can post a pic of the cable end that would be great.

Thanks John, yes it runs fine once it’s going.
I am sure I have adjusted this as well, I will try to send a picture but I am not brilliant working around this site. I might of adjusted the wrong way.

No worries Duncan, have a look at the top of the carb and you'll see linkages operating two flaps......the one near the engine is the throttle, the one near the air filter plastic is the choke.
It's this one that must be fully deployed to allow a cold start, and the cable usually needs to be pulled back in it's clamp to allow this.
John :)

Hi John, I think you are right as I looked through the air filter and I could see it was closed fully , I pushed it closed with a screwdriver and it started first time.
I will make further investigation in this department as I think something is fouling it to close .
Many thanks for your help

Getting there, Duncan!
Check out that cable clamp on the side of the engine......it doesn’t connect directly to the carb but does by linkages, levers and rods.
Usually the cable needs to be hauled back a few mm and then reclamped.
