Problem with bathroom lights

I have recessed LED lights in my bathroom and a ceiling mounted extractor fan which were both fitted a number of years ago and have been working fine. Both are turned on by a double switch outside the bathroom, with one switch for the lights and a separate one for the fan, so they can work independently.

I've just had some problems with the lights and when they are turned on, they stay on for a few minutes and then trip the RCD unit, but sometimes it trips as soon as they are switched on.

There is also an issue with the fan in that it has been coming on for a few seconds when the lights are switched on, even though the external switch hasn't been turned on, and I can't understand how this could happen when it isn't switched on.

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice on what the issue could be.

Mighty be a screw through a cable?
Continuity test with a multimeter may find the fault. Might require an electrician to call out as they got the best testing equipment.

Neutral to earth fault with the fan..maybe, disconnect the fan (put the wires in connectors) see if that sorts it.

I would also consider neutral to earth fault, problem is many devices only switch line, so need to unplug to disconnect neutral and clearly items without a plug are a problem.
