Hi Guys,
Came home from work tonight to find that the electrics must have switched on and off again in the area. Ihave realised that my burglar alarm is not working although there is power to the keypad it doesnt activate anything when i punch the code in. There is no light on the "mains" light on the keypad. I have checked for voltage going from the fuse spur to the control panel and that is fine. I have opened up the control panel to see if the transformer inside is receiving 240 v and it is. But what i cant determine is whether the transfomer is giving out any voltage to the pcb. I have checked the 1a fuse on the pcb and that seems fine.
Any thoughts as to what may have gone kaput!
thanks

your system has locked out!
your battery well be out of date, needs changing every 4 years.
power your system down, mains and battery, re-apply battery then mains. will go into tamper, punch in your code or 1234, it happens on the ck700l range alot!
now get a new battery! ;)

Never mind, have a search around and find out how to test an alarm battery correctly, bet you will find that it is k********.

could you please tell me how to test it correctly?

If you have a multimeter you could do a simple voltage drop test.
Disconnect the mains and wait a little while..(take the fuse out of the spur point holder or switch off the ncb if as often some turkey has direct wired the alarm. Measure the voltage with the multimeter set to the DC range of up to 20volts.
You should get a reading of around 12.8 volts
Wait 20 mins with the alarm in standby mode and measure again..If the battery has already dropped to around 11.5volts already then its pretty much obviously kaput. Recconect the mains and whizz of to Maplins for a replacement battery of the same size voltage and Ah readings..

I really don't think after a week short of 6 months that nabby68 is still around, do you?

whoops didn't see that just looked at a related post.. allthough surprised noone offered advice at the time come to think...
