I don't know if this is the right place to post this but it could come under anything really!

I have been using my front box bedroom as storage since I bought my house 9 months ago. It has had wardrobes up against the window and various other things. Window hasn't been opened in all that time.

I am finally getting to the last stage of renovation and have now cleared out the bedroom and found the wallpaper under the window and off to the bottom right of the window where the corner of the house is has all come away from the wall.

I took the external windowsill off as it wasn't sat properly and there were some holes in the silicone bead around it. I have resat it and resealed it. I checked the seals all around the window outside and they seem fine. There doesn't appear to be any cracks in the wall directly outside either.
Its a 1930s semi and has cavity walls.

I had the gutters cleaned last week and they noticed that the front corner of the roof had a tile that had slipped down into the guttering. I have asked a roofer to come and repair this..

The wall stank of damp when I removed the wallpaper so I've taken it all off under the windowsill and down to the corner where it came away easily, and now it doesn't actually feel damp on the wall - however, when I taped some clear plastic to the wall in the bottom right corner then removed it the next day the wall felt wet..

once the roof is fixed how will I then tell if the problem has gone away before I then need to start doing some more investigation? Do I do the plastic test again? How long should it take to dry out if the problem has been fixed?

Could it really be the roof that has caused this? I would have thought (in my limited knowledge) that the ceiling and the entire vertical length of the wall would also be damp if it was the roof causing this but it isn't it is just where the wallpaper has been removed in the photo.

any advice greatly appreciated!

Initially I would suggest a sealing problem between window frame and the outer sill.....could you give us a pic of that, if possible?
