Hi

We have oil central heating. A Trianco Redfyre Boiler. We put the heating on for the first time last night and all the rads bar one upstairs were heating fine but all the rads downstairs remained cold.

Tried to bleed rads but all had water (no air). Does anyone know what this might be caused by before I call out an engineer.

Thanks
Caro

Symptoms consistent with circulating pump not running - they can be reluctant to turn after a period of non-use.

Seek out the pump, turn off system, remove pump end cap, turn spindle back and forth with screwdriver until it feels free, start system and check that spindle is turning.

There are other possible causes, but it's worth eliminating this one first.

Another contributor is poorly balanced radiators. Look this up in the "How to" section.

thanks for your replys. Had thought it was pump from the faqs and tried the quidelines there but was afraid to do too much incase I damaged it.

Got engineer out on Friday evening. He suggested problem with pump straight away. Checked it gave it a few bangs and off it went.

This site is great for advice. Next time I will be more confident.

Engineer great only charged £20 for calling.

Thanks again for your replys
