Problems with a Macerator

Need some help please

I have a Macerator in our bathroom which works fine for a few months and then goes very weird. It wont allow water down from the toilet but it still makes the normal sound as when it is working and it makes the same sound every 10 mins for about 10 seconds all day. but nothing is moving from the toilet.

any ideas?

Sounds like a blockage as the macerator is trying to pump which is the noise you hear constantly. Unfortunately they can be messy to unblock and most plumbers wouldn't even attempt to tackle one. The biggest culprit is usually baby or face wipes and sanitary products as the blades struggle to chop them up. Try a strong liquid drain unblocker on it as it may help to dissolve some of the blockage but read the instructions first as there are parts in macerators that may not cope with some strong chemicals that well like the rubber seals etc.
