I have some boxes for growing vegetables in my garden. I think the boxes are plywood.

Can someone please tell me what to apply to protect the wood.

Thanks

The boxes will be full of damp earth, so the insides will be exposed to damp and funghi, so they will rot from the inside.

Treating the outside will not help.

If they are standing on paving or soil the bottoms will rot.

Thanks.

Please could you give me some advice on the best way to protect the wood before putting in the soil. The boxes will be standing on their own feet.

Thanks for help

waterproof liner, maybe heavy poly sheet? Or perhaps build it to fit round a plastic or metal tub or sink or baby bath.

or possibly paint the inside with a waterproof stuff like bitumen or Synthaprufe. You'll need some drainage holes. The bottom will not be on show so need not be wooden.
