Hi All,
Just tried posting earlier but it crashed on me and I was unable to post.. anyway, here's another try.
Our Puma 80 has crap out on us again.. happens every winter which is the worst time this could happen!
Yesterday, we lost the electrics to it but have found out that it was the fuse on the pcb so we have replaced it and now it lights up again. However, whilst we were trying to fix it, we released all the pressure out of the system overnight by twiddling with a u-tube that's connected between the flow isolating valve and the return isolating valve (used to repressurise the system).
Now when we turn on the hot water we get a click and a hum.. it makes all the right sounds but the burner doesn't seem to kick in.. there is a pilot light though. I wonder if the gas pipe is blocked?
I have no idea about plumbing but is there anything basic which i can check before i call a plumber?
Thanks guys

I find that if i leave the combi for a while... I get some hot water but it's soon runs out.. seems to be some heating of the water but not much.
No central heating either which is a pain!

the system press should be 1 / 1.2 cold if the prv is passing it will need replacing
what do you mean down what does the guage read ?

hey kev
i turned the valve so that it got down to 1 bar.. the pipe outside spewed out water. Also have just noticed that the valve right at the top of the boiler to the left hand side (auto air vent) is dripping water... not sure if that's normal.

What needs to be replaced? The whole unit?

Last year when the plumber came.. he drained the system completely.. is this easy to do and do you think it would work?

thanks very much!

are you sure you closed the fill loop (silver pipe ) changing the prv aint hard
as for the bit at the top (auto air vent)close the screw cap its not unusual for them to drip
