Thats your air vent thats spitting. Sounds like pump is U/S.

just reading manual seems there should be a small screw type thing in the top of it this seems to be missing

The screw cap is normally left loose to allow air to vent from the boiler.

You pump has probably failed causing the water to boiler and steam to be vented off through the air vent. Is the boiler very noisy?

Check water pressure on the gauge is about 1 Bar. Unscrew the small hex cap in the center of the pump, pull gently to engage pump and see if the pump is free to rotate. Power up heating with a cloth near pump to prevent water spraying everywhere and see if hex rotates.

it's not very loud but after about 20 seconds it does start to make some strange noises, hot water works fine, fault only happens when CH is put on.

the actual screw from the top is missing searched and can not find at all we had a new pilot light fitted couple of weeks ago, hot water worked fine that was why we called the guy but since the CH has not worked, will have to see if I can purchase one off the web anyone know where to get one and what it's called so I can order one

I think the pump has failed!

See FAQ to test.

Think it has too took the brass screw out of center fire it up small amount of water trickled out, but almost positive the pump isn't even a year old, and had someone out to it quite a number of times in last year think it time to replace costing more to maintain the a new one would cost.

Thanks for all your help you all been great

Thats not the normal pump for a Puma if you have a brass screw (sounds like a Wilo Salmson pump). If this is the case the test procedure above will not apply. With the screw removed can you see the shaft revolving. Using a small screwdriver is the shaft free to turn?
