Push Button Cistern Cable Stuck, Can’t Access Flush Valve - Help!

Had a problem with a toilet cistern filling only when a cold tap was run - played with the (Siamp) fill valve washer cover, and it seems to be fine - maybe a bit of limescale.

In the process of putting the fascia board back on, the flush cable appears to be stuck. There’s no resistance to, or engagement with, the flush button, and manually lifting the valve and releasing causes it to refill and overflow into the bowl.

I can’t lift the lid off to access the cistern to swap anything, because the cam-locked top panel has a basin unit fixed over one side of it…

Is the plastic piece which engages with the flush button supposed to move with the cable? Not what I need on Christmas Eve!

The bit that clips on button will swivel.
Sometimes the cable gets in a stressed position causing the syphon to lock open.

You can unclip button as and manually pull to active flush.
Is that working?

Button appears fine, cable assembly locks onto it fine - but the little white plastic lever it depresses in the button end of the cable assembly is staying down. Assume the cable is somehow stuck in the flush position, although the actual flush valve is closing. Cable assembly doesn’t appear to split fully and I can’t get a pair of needle-nose pliers in to manipulate the actual cable/lever.

Does the flush valve twist and come out? Can you get it out?
If so, take it out see if you can free up the cable and lever... Might just be stuck or unfortunately may be broke!

Cable is essentially not returning the little white plastic lever for the button to actuate it

I think the cable assembly is friction fit, but I can’t get to it adequately to pull at the flush valve end

Take some photos from further away.
When I fit these sort of units, I cut a keyhole for the pan connector and flush pipe, so that the panel behind the pan can be pulled up and out while pan stays undisturbed! Hopefully, fitters have done the same... You can then usually remove the cistern from the front.

That spring at the bottom of the button receiver is what pushes the lever back up. Is it jammed?

Edit.... Scrap that! The spring enable the locking mechanism for the button!

Try pushing lever with small screwdriver... See if you can free it up.
Also jiggle the float in the flush valve to see if this will free the cable up... Something has got caught somewhere, during your tinkering!

Bloody thing is now leaking from under the loo bowl somehow, but I can’t see or hear where. Only at Christmas.

Lever on cable is stuck in the button-depressed position. No amount of jiggling is freeing it. It’s a Siamp unit - do they pull off?

I suspect you might just be able to remove the whole flush valve via the access panel, I can’t get my hand in far enough to release the cable at the bottom of it.

Loo is leaking via the flush pipe at the loo end, seems to be fitted just with putty/mait.
