Hi

I'm just looking to plumb in our utility washing machine and sink. Cold is great as the historical pipe work is copper happy days I'll just continue with soldering copper.

The hot has plastic coming in. I've used JG and various other plastic fittings before that seemed ok. On this job I've tested with 2 different pushfit elbows and managed to pull them off. Yes I used some force but I wanted to make sure they hold - no problem with the plastic coupler that's solid.

So I was wondering what's causing these to pull off? I've ordered some brand new ones for a comparison but if I'm honest I'd much rather use compression/solder.

Thanks

Use a compression fitting and make sure the plastic pipe has the correct insert
( Pipe stiffener) fitted.

I've read about a million articles on this all with a variety of comments. Would you use any type of compression such as

This one

And can any insert work? I've always used these

These

The compression fitting linked to is fine ,as are all brands.
The pipe stiffener should be matched to the brand of the pipe e.g JG pipe and JG stiffener....and so forth

1. As terryplumb, match insert to pipe manufacturer.
2. But don't use the JG Superseal inserts (the ones you have suggested) with compression fittings, use the plain (no O ring) inserts. The superseal ones can end up with an O ring right where the olive goes.

That was my thoughts come out of the plastic which is already in situ with compression and continue with copper/solder
