I am looking to install this in my new larder:

This light operates via a plug, so this is really simple as I have a socket in there. However, what I want to happen is for the lights to come on when the larder door is opened, and off when it is shut.

Would it be possible to wire this...

... into the main cord before it gets to the plug?

Sorry for the basic question!!

Yes.

Depending on the switch terminals, I would carefully remove the cable sheath without damaging the wires and only cut the Live conductor then tuck in the undamaged Neutral.

You should not have any unsheathed single wires visible outside the switch when finished.

Excellent. I am going to order both bits and try my hand at it! Thanks!
