weird question: Does anybody know howto put two metal cables that consist of different wires each back together ? the result should be one cable that is at least is 40% as strong as the original cable.
This IS possible by welding but is difficult en requires many retries.

Very cruse pic with the top being the two seperated cables en the bottom the joined cable, the cable cannot be thicker than the original

You want to joint two stranded cables with no additional thickness?

No.

You can splice stranded cables but this increases the thickness.

If it's stranded you would weld each of the strands to a corresponding strand, must be almost impossible.

Why do you want to? What is the cable used for?

Buy a new length of cable thats long enough.

I guess you cant use a thimble and ferule due to your thickness constraints.

Whats it for, may be other options...?

Is it just the one joint you are looking at doing or is this a production thing and you're gonna get the idea of the month prize for us sorting it out for you? ;)

fray out all the strands, laser-weld them individually in a vacuum, then twist them back into a cable.

or just buy a longer piece.
