I need to drill a hole through a wall to fit an ethernet cable.
Daft question i know but i need to know what size masonry bit i need.
I am drilling the hole for my brother then he is installing the cable next week cos he does not have the cable yet and i am going away to work.
So don't want a gaping hole. My guess is about 16mm but does any one have any ideas

16mm sounds way big.
I am not a computer whiz kid but earthnet cables that's the thing that connects the modem to the tower is it not?
I recon that's about 7mm dia, so 10mm will be plenty.
What type of wall is it, your going through and what is the depth of it?

The Rj45 connector on the end of the cable is about 12mm across, but figure in another couple of mm if the cable has a stress relief boot

You forgot to tell us if your brother has the crimping tool so you only need a hole for cable?
