Afternoon all,

I have recently part borded my loft and i want to put a permanent light in there - currently using a "Lead light" pluged into a extension reel.

I pulled up some of the slack on the upstairs lighting circuit in preperation for use on the permanent light. (I was thinking of just using a J/Box for cutting into the circuit)

Am I allowed to put the light and new wiring in myself or do i have to get an Electrician in for this and is this work notifiable?

If the lighting wiring is looped at the ceiling roses It may be neater to run your loft light from an existing light fitting rather than cut into a cable and add a junction box.

Neater still if you run from the last rose on the lighting circuit, as there should only be two cables in that one, leaving room for another cable.

I take it the cable you wish to loop into is a permanent live and neutral; and not a switch wire or something.
