We have a heated towel rail with the electric supply coming via a fused spur switch in another room, as normal. I'd like to put a small smart switch between the fused spur and the towel rail, probably in it's own section of a dual surface pattress box, to better control the towel rail and to save energy (and cost). My question is about what to do with the earth. The smart switch only has a live and neutral. Is it OK to just run the earth wire past the smart switch inside the box, as in the attached diagram?
Thanks in advance.
