It is well documented how polystyrene reacts with PVC cables.

I need to insulate some difficult to reach roofing areas. Ideally I would want to use polystyrene beads but as there are some PVC cables there I cannot use this material.

Does anyone know about shredded polyurethene ?

some people are selling insulation made by shredding off cuts of Polyurethene insulation like Celotex etc.

Not heard of this type of insulation but polyurethane does not react with PVC cables. Another alternative would be loose rockwool which is also fine.

As with any insulation, the current carrying capacity of cables will be reduced by up to 50% if they are in contact with, or worse still surrounded by insulation.
