PVC Door and Bell

Hi

I have just purchased a new doorbell, and I didn't realise its a recessed type. I have a PVCu front door and surrounding PVCu porch. Looking at the doorbell ringer, it needs a hole approx 1" deep and approx 1/2" in diameter.

My question is, can I actually drill a hole in a PVCu doorframe to fit this bell? Obviously if it was wood it would be no problem, but I've never tried in PVC
