Hi, we have recently moved house. Our old house had a handle/lock that you could only open from the outside with a key. Very handy and secure. Our new house has a handle/lock that requires you to use a key every time you go out. Not really an issue for myself, however it is when you have a teenager who forgets to lock the door! (door was unlocked all day!) To make the door key only from the outside, would I need to replace the whole unit or can you get retro fit kits? Here is a pic of the door. Any advice would be great!

I think what you need is a split spindle

I was looking at these earlier. I can't get my head around how they work. Surely you just wouldn't be able to get in? How would putting a key in from the outside override the split spindle?

Yes I may of got it wrong or the wrong way around - hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about will be along soon

Take existing handle off, look at where the spindle goes through, if you have two square holes, one above the other then you just need a split spindle handle , usually lever handle indoors and pad handle outside
