Hi there

I removed a wired PIR prior to some work on our kitchen and got around to fitting it back a couple of days ago. Since then I've struggled to put the alarm back on, the panel is showing "tamper on input" and it keeps putting me back to the engineers menu.

I've checked the wiring and the tamper switch on the front with the spring, looks to be fine - it makes a click when depressed. I read somewhere that there is also a tamper switch on the back but can't seem to find one.

I got the other half to hold the tamper switch down whilst i tried to reset via the panel - same problem.

Anything else I can try, or is it a case of buying a new one and trying that?

Thanks in advance.

Is the back tamper plastic knockout missing ….? Loosen off the screw holding in the pcb and slide the pcb out ….post picture of detector back plastic mounting plate and the back of the detector pcb ….

The back plate is there. Out of interest how does the back tamper mechanism work? I don't see anything on the back of the PCB. Thanks

No back tamper on that one , stretch the front spring a little before putting lid back on

It doesnt have a back tamper, u need tp check the resistance reading on the blue and yellow if it still showing tamper with the spring pressed down

Got it. 8.3 kOhms without the press, but when the tamper button is pressed, it seems to oscillate between 6.5 kOhms and 7.5 kOhms. Thanks.

Try it without the cables connected to the pir. Should be open circuit with the button not pressed

@Bigsosij, yes, its open circuit when the button is not pressed, after disconnecting wires. when pressed, goes from 2.2kOhms when the LED is off to 8.8kOhms when it comes on.

@sparkymarka I got the other half to hold the tamper switch down manually whilst I tried come out of engineers menu, same problem unfortunately. Also I can hear the click of the switch when I put the front panel on. But happy to give this another try if we think that might be the issue.

Out of interest I also double checked the settings on the control panel
EOL Range: 4K7/2K2
EOD Mode: DR
Input response: 300ms

and I checked another PIR too, alarm resistor set to 4K7 and tamper to 2K2 just like the kitchen one that is failing.

I need to buy an additional one for a new room anyway, so I guess I could try and use that new one in the kitchen and see how that goes. Main problem is that I am not able to use the alarm at all right now. Even if i set the Kitchen input to unused, it still will not allow me to set. How can I 'remove' the kitchen PIR. It is a case of unwiring it from the alarm panel temporarily?

Thank you both for replies so far.

2k2 is fine, tamper should clear when there is no movement in the room. 8k8 is too high should be 6k9 OC. Could try taking the jumpers off and fitting 2k2/4k7 resistors in the terminals

Sounds a bit of a punt …but ….have you tried it with the pcb out ? Is that black screw top left shorting on the back of the pcb ? Put some tape over it ?

I figured it out but I have to admit I'm feeling a bit sheepish now. Long story short but we'd knocked two rooms into one. The names of the rooms that were pre-programmed were a bit odd and had made an assumption that one of them was the kitchen, and changed the description to "Kitchen". After going through the control panel again, I found another Input at position number seventy something - right at the end - "Kitchen". So basically I'd confused myself because I hadn't spotted that one right at the end of the inputs. Funny thing is, now I have an "extra" input, I have no idea what it is. Anyway, its working again now. Sorry for the wild goose chase, i really appreciate your time in helping me track this down!
