Sphincters will be rapidly re-aligning, somewhere.

...45 Trent 900 engines have been inspected, and of those engines:
29 engines were installed on operating aircraft
8 engines were not installed on aircraft
4 engines were due to be delivered on a new aircraft
4 engines were on a flight test aircraft.

Three engines failed the inspection and were removed from service for further examination. All Qantas aircraft engines currently flying had no defects recorded and remain in service...

I know quite a few people who work at Rolls Royce , here in Derby, and can confirm that a large amount of the workforce have twitchy a***s.
Every stage of production and inspection can be traced. Right back to the suppliers of raw materials. They can tell where a particular piece was cast, where the raw materials came from, who inspected the casting, who machined it, who inspected that etc. Every process is logged and recorded. They could probably tell you what any employee had for dinner in the canteen that day.

I'm still glad though, that Erbauer don't make Aero Engines. ;) ;) ;) ;)

John, i have a few mates that work there also, one on the test bed and 2 in repair and overhaul, i ribbed them about the particular engine and whether it was one they'd looked at and all 3 tell me the Trent 900 is made in Germany not here, still a Royces engine admittedly but not one of Derby's ;)

If our thigh-slapping friends did make this engine, then oh how standards have slipped since the Messerschmitt

Could this part have been subbed out to the Fung-Yip Manufacturing Co. of Xiang province to save a few quid?
