Hi
We have a quarry tiled floor in a 1930's house, which has been carpeted. I've been advised (surveyor) that it will require excavation and relaying with a DPM.
If there is no evidence of damp at the moment (house not been lived in/heated this year and still in original state with draughty windows, doors etc), is it really necessary to do all this work? (or is the surveyor just covering his posterior?) The carpet is less than a year old (don't know if it's foam backed etc) and we plan to renovate and modify the property. Does such renovation create problems with damp through such floors?
Any experience and/or recommendations appreciated.
