My 2 year old Worcester Greenstar24 Ri has the following symptoms.
- central heating off and no demand for hot water.
- regular cycling at about 10 minute intervals
- loud gurgling noises during the cycle
- infrequent clanking pipe noises like a door slamming.
The cycle sequence from start is
Internal fan, fast at 0 secs and at 17 seconds switches to slow
Burner, on at 5 secs off at 20 secs, so burner is on for 3 secs of slow fan.
gurgling and clanking starts around 25 secs and stops around 55 secs
Fan continues slow for another 3 minutes.
Based on comments in the forum, I assume the bubbling and clanking are due to inadequate water circulation or scaling.
How do I decide whether to change the external circulating pump, or to carry out a descaling operation.
What about the 10 minute cycling. Is this normal?
What should I investigate next?
