Hi all

I have a quick question about my loft, I was just up getting the Xmas tree down and was surprised by just how cold it was up there, it was freezing but also the condensation on one side of the loft (see picture)

I remember a few years ago having someone look at this and being told it was basically "just one of those things" but I'm wondering if I should do something about it?

I know my roof vents are fitted too low down on the roof and should really be moved higher, would this likely help the issue? Alternatively should I look at periodically putting a heater in the loft space for a few hours?

Or is this just a thing that affects a lot of lofts in winter?

Thanks for any help

You have been in the loft meaning lots of warm moist air will have entered the loft space , will soon be back to normal once loft is left sealed .

Our loft is freezing cold, that's a good thing as it means you have decent insulation in your bedroom ceilings!.

Lofts with insulation at first floor ceiling level are called 'cold roofs' and are meant to be like that but with ventilation at eaves level to reduce the risk of condensation. Pipes have to be insulated to avoid freezing and water tanks lagged.
