HI,
CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY A GAINSBOROUGH AMBASSADOR MIXER SHOWER FOR COMBI BOILER SYSTEMS CANT BE USED WITH A GRAVITY FED BOILER SYSTEM?

I MEAN IS THERE REALLY ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MIXER SHOWER FOR COMBI / GRAVITY FED SYSTEMS? ANY REPLIES WILL BE HELPFUL.

A mixer shower will have a minimum working pressure, measured in Bar. As a combi supplies hw at mains pressure and the cold supply is normally at mains pressure too, there is normally no problem achieveing the minimum pressures.

Gravity systems rely on the vertical distance from the cold storage tank in loft to the shower head. The bigger difference in height from shower head to tank, the greater the pressre. This distance is called 'Head' and distances are quoted in metres of head.

You can convert metres of head to BAR. Each metre of head is equal to 0.1Bar. So if you shower needs minimum 0.3 Bar pressure to work, you will need a 3 metre difference in height between shower head and cold tank in loft.

AND STOP SHOUTING! ;)
