We're having a new roof done on our semi-detached house and I want to make sure the boundary with the neighbour is done properly. The roof currently has 1930s Rosemary clay tiles and we're replacing our side with Redland 49. When installing the bonding gutter, is it ok to cut the existing tiles on the boundary in half on the party line (removing our half and keeping the neighbour's half) to line up neatly with the bonding gutter, or is there a better approach?
Alternatively, my roofer suggested using ridge tiles instead using a dry-fix system as it will look nicer. My parents had theirs done like this a decade ago but with mortar which I've read is a no-no. Is a dry-fix system ok when used like this? I'm trying to decide which approach to go with.
