Due to the oddities of the planning regulations, I have an office space on the to of my house with a glass roof. This time of year it gets pretty hot.
I'm looking for a quick fix to provide shade and thought that some exterior grade plywood with a backing of foil to act as a thermal barrier that can be clamped over the double glazing unit would be a good way of reducing the heat while I can consider (and budget for) a more permanent option.
I got a small WBP piece and lay it in place and the the temperature differential was significant (merely warm vs almost scalding) on the chosen glazing panel so in theory (my theory, at any rate) this seems like an ok option.
Does anyone have any comments on what, if any, finishing I might need to do? I read here that getting wet isn't really an issue for exterior ply, but freeze/thaw cycles are.
Thanks
