Hi there folks,

Right - do you HAVE to use barrier for central heating? If so how flexible is the stuff? Can you use the Hep2O metal bend formers (that give you a 90 degree bend in 160mm) with the barrier or is that just for the standard pipe?

I'm thinking about where I bend up in my voids to go to the rads. I know a lot of people would put in an elbow and run copper for rad tails, but that kind of defeats my objective of eliminating joints under the floor by running a manifold-style layout with separate runs to each fixture.

Cheers for any advice...

Liam

ease abit of hot water on the pipe and it can be bent gently.

ive just had a look on there website and found this

It is also possible to bend Speedit Pipe using a standard pipe bender. The pipe should not be heated with a blowlamp or hot air gun.

Yes, you do have to use barrier, and it is very flexible when CH water is circulating at high temperature... Maybe too soft for exposed rad tails methinks.

Cheers guys,

OK so bending probaby wont be a problem, especially if I end up using 10mm, but that's a good point about softness. Are you saying running plastic to the rads will leave the pipes vulnerable to being broken by the vacuum cleaner etc? Hmmm I guess I could always sleeve the plastic tails in metal for mechanical strength and still achieve no underfloor joints...
