Quick masking tape question

Hello,

Ive just glossed my skirting boards in the kitchen. Ive masked off the floor tiles. When do i pull off the tape? when the paint is dry or wet?

What are door tiles. I dont use masking tape, but if I did I would remove it whilst the paint is wet, else the paint could stick to the tape & when you remove the tape you may remove the paint.

tape removed whilst the paint was tacky, looks good

What about if the floor was carpet. My skirtings are too close to the floor to get anything between the carpet and the skirtings. How should I protect the carpet??

2" masking tape - leave on until the paint has dried or else you'll end up with fluff in the paint.
