quick question regarding going over new plaster

Hi just skimmed a couple of walls in bedroom..The first wall i did is not as good as i could have done (first time plastering lol) second wall has come out pretty good..Can i pva the first wall and do a re-skim ? does it matter or not if it is not fully dried out and do i have to wait for it to dry out? Prefer not to wait if i don't have to lol as i need the rooms done.

You will have to wait until it's dry mate You can soak the areas of wall that's messed up and work in some finish but it's hard work and hard to do.

The general rule with pva is to coat the dry wall with it and let it dry for 24 hrs then put another coat on it and let it go tacky then skim on it then this should insure that you get equal suction and the plaster will all go off at the same time.. As for putting pva on it when it has been skimmed and it is not all dry you will get patches that dont have eqaul suction. AS it is your first time plastering and congrats for havin ago (as long as you dont get too good and take our work away from us ) I would take the proper steps and dont be impatient let it dry out and do it again it wont hurt to put a bit of heat on in the room if it is not directly pointed at your skimmed wall .Let us know how it goes.

Just think, if you go over the wall and its better than the other wall you did, perhaps you can go over that one again too, and then if thats a bit better.................... anyway, at least its a little bit less to paint afterwards

Thanks for the tips..I am waiting till it dries out then will pva it the nite before and then apply some pva prior to skimming..

Another question,,When i started this mini project i used some wickes bonding agent on the walls the nite before.

Now i am not doing the other 2 walls till the first one has dried out..Can i put some pva on top of the WBA as it will be a good few days before i start again or just go straight on top of the wba..My only concern is that i don't want the plaster going off too quick as i am not that fast just yet

you can put wba on and skim after 2 hours, you could also leave it up there for 2 years and come back and skim it, dont worry about your skim going off if you have applied it right the walls will all be sealed , keyed and ready to go

Depsnd how dry it gets, it's usually okay after a few hours unlike Bondit.
B& Q stck one as well, brand names escapes me.

However - is it wise to seal up a wet wall?
