A lot of the plumbing in our house is rather dubious, but at the moment I'm looking at some of the central heating pipework. We've got concrete floors downstairs, with pipes running down from the ceilings and along the skirting boards. That in itself is not a problem. What may be is where it passes through the walls, it's going through the skirting boards and in places very close to the floor. There are various bodges where carpet has been squeezed in under pipes, and where there are tiled floors they've been cut to fit around the pipes. The photo below is a particular favourite
As we're going through decorating the house, we're getting the walls skimmed, and in most cases replacing the rads as they're very old. While we're doing that it seems to make sense to replace the pipework as well, and move it all above the skirting to avoid any problems with the flooring.
Does that sound like a sensible plan, and are there any potential pitfalls I should be aware of?
