Hi
I have a socket which is on its own radial circuit, and want to add another socket near to it.
Do I insert a junction box just above the existing socket and run both existing and new sockets from that; or just run the spur from the back of the existing socket? Is either method OK (the junction box may be easier)?
Thanks
Martyn

Hi Martyn

Basically either method is ok,B&Q have a rectangular junction box by MK about £1.95 where terminals are all in line and you dont need to cut through the cable, just strip the red and black (in the right place of course) after carefully removing the sheath
It may well be easier to cut the cable but when the cut ends of the wire are going in the same terminal you'll need some overlap which can sometimes be a problem if there is no slack in the cable
