Hi, I'm fitting some B&Q radiators (http://www.diyer.co.uk/Column_Horizontal_Radiator_White_1226x600mm-153448.html) with manual valves.

The instructions say that the water must enter the radiator at the corner diagonally opposite the air vent. I've not encountered this requirement before when fitting other manufacturers radiators. Is it important? If so does anyone know why? I'd have thought it was largely irrelevant.

If it is important then its awkward as I don't currently know which way the water is flowing. Does anyone know a simple way of determining that too?

In theory when you open the feed, the incoming water will tend to force the air out to the opposite corner of the rad.

To tell which is feed and which is return, the feed should be hotter then the return - if that fails see which of the tails gets hot first when the heating comes on or you could just match the current valve arrangement and hope that it's right!
