Hi All
A common problem I know but this is driving me nuts. The radiator in one of the bedrooms bangs like someone is hitting it with a hammer every time the heating starts up and the only way to stop it is to turn it down to the lowest heat setting. You can hear it from every room in the house. My wife tells me that when we had building work done in order to route around or near a lintel/supporting beam re builder put a sharp bend (right angle) in the pipe close to this radiator and ‘filled the system up slowly’ I was working at the time so not seen this to judge it.
Presumably this is the problem and the only way to fix it is to rerun the pipe but would mean extensive work.
Does that sound like the cause and any other ideas to stop this ? The other thing I noticed but maybe wrong is that the thermostat valve is on the opposite side to all other radiators in the house. It’s on the left but others are consistently on the right.
