Hi - very new to the thread and very new to DIY...i had my column radiators fitted in 2018. Last few months i have noticed them brackets getting loose of the wall. I called the chao who fixed them and he said its fine it wont fall...but wife and i have our doubts. Attaching pics if anyone could advise how serious is it.

Thank
Mel

HI terry thanks for the quick reply, will it hold in for a few weeks and i can do it in the new year, will it hold on till then?...am not very good at DIY and would you say i use the services of a professional

Looks like quite a heavy radiator, and no feet on the bottom to support the weight. I think you should engage a professional plumber to re fit it ,as soon as is practicable. Can you show pics of the full rad

Thanks ,its not as tall as I thought. Nevertheless the brackets need to be secured ,and probably best left to a pro.

Much appreciated terry, ok to have it done in the new year?.. and would you have someone you would recommend.

Should be ok for a short while. If you have kids around ,keep them away. I would suggest you get the original installer ,and if for some reason you don't want to ,ask friends / family/ neighbours for recommendations. What area of the country are you based in ?

Will do terry ..based in south east london - sydenham to be precise

If you have anything reasonably heavy to put at the front of it, like a hard suitcase filled with stuff or a solid box that can be wedged underneath it, just to give a little extra support until it can be secured properly.

Looks like it might be a plasterboard wall? If it is then the installer should never have used just wall plugs to secure that, it should have had specific plasterboard anchors.

Thank you for your input madrab have some bricks that might just about fit to give it that support..thank you once again for your advice ..much appreciated

If you gently/carefully support the rad back onto the wall and then tease the bricks underneath, use a cloth or some thick card to stop them scraping the rad paint.
