Radiator cover help

Mrs bought a wooden home sign and left them on the radiator cover in the hallway she's since noticed the oil or paint that was in the wood has stained the radiator cover.

The radiator cover is just MDF it's not very expensive but was wondering if the top can be sanded and sprayed with a white Matt spray paint?

I've found a primer would any clear satin sealer be fine to finish it?

I'm going to lightly sand the top first though

No need , will give a rough finish on mdf .

Should be fine . Shake well and stand in boiling water for 30 secs to warm can .
