I am renovating a bungalow and had a plumber into replace the old boiler and radiators etc.

I'd bought Stelrad Vita Eco for each room, all were installed and working fine or so I thought.

I have a number of rads that get warm but only just, checking the tech doc from stelrad the input is the left hand pipe and output the right hand when facing the radiator.

Starting the heating from cold I'd checked each radiator by feeling the two connecting pipes on each radiator, 4 out of 8 radiators the right hand pipe or output pipe got hot first, these are also the rads that only just get warm

so the question is are these radiators possibly incorrectly connected??

I'll be getting a new plumber soon to install the remaining rads once I've completed the last room so if needed I can get him to check and fix but would be good I someone can confirm my theory.

Did you buy them yourself or did the installer provide them?

If the former, then the installer may not have been aware that the flow and return have to be connected in a particular way. He also may be unaware of the procedure for adjusting the integral TRV.

Of course, if the installer recommended the rads, he should have done his homework first.

The maker's information shows the inlet being on the left.

I would have expected the rads would have have been marked somehow but perhaps they instead expect that all plumbers can and will read.

As Dan says if the floor can be taken up easily then its a relatively simple job to cross over the pipes.

Perhaps he did not realise that they do require a specific flow direction and foolishly did not think to check.

Thanks for the replies

to answer a few of the question posted.

i bought all the rads and gave the plumber all the install and tech docs I got from the Stelrad site.

I've three more unmounted rads and not seen any marking on them to show the input but there's a tech sheet packed with each one detailing all of the details needs to mount to the wall and connect up, this is where where I looked when I started looking into the issue

so looking at it now my guess is that he didn't look at them as 60% of the work now needs to be redone...

a couple of the rads have the pipes which I've found to be push fit plastic pipes are located the loft so easy to work on but the rads in the bedrooms will be an issue as the access isn't easy.

looking for a plumber now to fix all these issues.

Many thanks for the help it's greatly Appreciated.

Tony

Does this Tech Sheet show the flow connection as being on the left clearly visible so that any plumber will be able to see it easily?

Yes the tech sheet with each radiator shows the flow diagram, for each radiator K1 K2 etc.
